UNITED WAY TO HOST ANNUAL BOARD MEETING

Morgantown, WV, Thursday, January 26, 2012

Current board members, contributors, and participating organizations of the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties will convene in Morgantown, on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at noon to conduct the business of the organization’s Annual Meeting.  The location of meeting will be announced.  Following an overview of the past year’s successful campaign and related events, the meeting will select officers and members to the volunteer Board of Directors.

VOLUNTEERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY

The United Way Volunteer Connection hosted its annual Day of Caring and 2011 Campaign Kick-Off on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.  Volunteers participated in various projects such as painting, cleaning, landscaping and visiting with clients at 26 different sites.

Kick off began at 11:00 am at South Middle School and service projects and activities ran through 5:00 pm.

OVER 240 RIDERS PARTICIPATE IN LIVE UNITED / RIDE UNITED

The 8th Annual United Way Poker Run took place Saturday, June 26th. Over 240 riders participated this year to LIVE UNITED / RIDE UNITED in the 125-mile road rally through Monongalia and Preston Counties. This was one of the largest turnouts in recent years, according to Shelly Martin, the volunteer event coordinator.

12th ANNUAL CORPORATE CUP CHALLENGE RAISES OVER $11,000

The 12th Annual Corporate Cup Challenge games were held on June 11th, 12th and 13th.  21 area businesses with over 500 employees competed in nine different events.  Teams competed in one of two divisions, based on company size.
