VOLUNTEERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY

The United Way Volunteer Connection hosted its annual Day of Caring and 2011 Campaign Kick-Off on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.  Volunteers participated in various projects such as painting, cleaning, landscaping and visiting with clients at 26 different sites.

Kick off began at 11:00 am at South Middle School and service projects and activities ran through 5:00 pm.

The United Way Day of Caring is an annual event in Monongalia and Preston Counties designed to foster service and volunteering in the community. Nearly 200 volunteers from companies and organizations spent the day helping local service agencies. These volunteers recognize the benefit of having a firsthand opportunity to learn how United Way and local agencies are meeting the human service needs in our community.

By offering their time, these volunteers were able to give back a value of $14,985 to the community.
